"Take it Easy, Mos Def. Why Don't You Quit Talking For Awhile?"

I've had a hard time getting my mind wrapped around this whole "Jena 6" story.

Apparently, I'm not alone.

Check out this seven minute segment from CNN yesterday. Mos Def, who's the antithesis of most commercial rappers and a decent little actor, doesn't exactly…well, just listen for yourselves.

The video quality sucks, but you'll still get the drift…

Think you're being a big hard on Mos. This segment pretty much plays like sequel to his apperance on Real Time with Bill Maher.

Basically he's saying that case of Jena 6 is as pressing a concern as anything else that American seem to care about.

And he's right.

I get that part, even though I didn't see Mos on Maher's show.

My point was that regardless how important the issue is, there's nothing to be gained by giving a rambling, half-asleep interview that's broadcast around the world.

The unprepared news anchors barely seemed to understand the issue, themselves, but you could practically hear the director in their ear telling them to go after Mos Def, when it became apparent that his attention wasn't on the interview ("He said "National Security"? Sicc 'im!")
